The end of a “Journey”

June 9, 2010 by

Quinn: Say it again

Puck: “You’re not fat”

What we’ve been waiting for has finally come this week on Glee. It’s time for regionals.

There is just so much to say about this episode. First of all, it turns out that Sue is one of the judges at regionals. Does everyone feel a sense of impending doom at reading that? Well, the Glee club certainly did. They have a tearful meeting at Mr. Shue’s house, thinking that Glee club was over. (Remember how Mr. Figgins said that they had to win regionals to keep Glee club at McKinley)

After this meeting, Will turns to Emma for advice. We’re so glad to see Emma again! She gave Mr. Shue great advice, as ever. But she’s seeing her dentist? WHAT? But her indignation at seeing the Glee club ruined at the end of the episode showed us that she still has a spark for a certain William Shuester.

That being said, we totally called that in that scene with Mr. Shue driving, he would hear a Journey song on the radio. And then, “Don’t Stop Believing” started playing. AND MR. SHUE STARTED CRYING! It was a little cheesy but still sweet. We’re so glad that Mr. Shue chose Journey songs to perform at regionals.

Lea Michele and Cory Monteith’s performance of Journey’s “Faithfully” was gorgeous. Lea Michele’s voice soaring over the rest of the Glee club’s voices. The fact that Rachel kissed Finn earlier in this episode charged this beautiful song with even more emotion. And Finn told Rachel that he loved her right before this song started. SQUEAL! The lyrics of this song pretty fittingly told Rachel and Finn’s story too.  Just wow. We’ll be listening to this song for a long time.

The rest of the medley was great too. We liked that they gave Santana and Puck’s solos in “Don’t Stop Believing.” “Anyway You Want It” and “Lovin’ Touchin’ Sqeezin’” were adorable too. WE LOVE JOURNEY! All of the New Directions in those 60′s style hairdos and gold dresses. SO CUTE. We thought these performances were worthy of a win for the New Directions. Stupid celebrity judges.

Speaking of those judges, they were some familiar faces from previous episodes of this season. Josh Groban and Olivia Newton-John both returned to play themselves again. Rodd also was one of the judges. It was fun to see all of these previous guest stars again.

Alright, now back to New Directions. Quinn walks offstage and HER MOM IS THERE. And her mom has left her dad. But of course, Quinn’s water broke.

And then there’s Vocal Adrenaline. They perform “Bohemian Rhapsody.” All we have to say is, we bow down to Jonathan Groff. His vocals on this song were just flawless. And the fact that he starts playing the piano for part of this number, just wow. The choreography of the number is great too. We still don’t understand this song though.

The VERY strange part of this number was that they decided to place shots of Quinn giving birth into this number. She even sometimes shouts out the lyrics to the song as she pushes. We’re not sure why the directors/producers did this. It just ends up being beyond strange because it just doesn’t quite fit. Puck and Quinn’s baby is adorable though.

After this number, Rachel went to talk to her mom, the Vocal Adrenaline coach. She wants Shelby to teach at McKinley. We wish she’d said yes….but oh well…She tells Rachel that she wants a family. When Rachel told Shelby that Quinn gave birth to a baby girl, we knew Shelby would try to adopt the baby. AND GUESS WHAT? She does. And keeps Puck’s name for her, Beth.

There is also an adorable moment between Puck and Quinn as they look at their baby girl in the hospital. We want them to be together!

Back to regionals. The judges have an interesting discussion about the three teams. Josh Groban likes New Directions. YAY, right? Um no. None of the other judges felt it. Olivia Newton-John mocks them. That was just sad. But at least Sue realizes in that moment that she does feel for the New Directions and is a misfit in these groups of judges.

Anyway. Vocal Adrenaline wins. DUN DUN DUN. What will happen to the New Directions.

Well, first of all, Figgins gives the choir room to the Mock UN. And as we already mentioned, Emma won’t stand for it. And Will kisses Emma. AWWWW!

We’re noticing. There were a lot of “I love you”s in this episode. Will said it to Emma after she stands up for Glee. Finn says it to Rachel before they begin their regionals performance. And Puck says it to Quinn as they look at their baby girl. So cute. We like all of these couples!

So, after Will kisses Emma, Rachel calls Will in to the choir room. There he finds all of the Glee clubbers telling him about how much he’s changed them. They then convey the same message by singing “To Sir with Love” to him. They all had tears in their eyes for this whole scene. Including Mr. Shue. He blows them all a kiss at the end of the number.  It is all very sweet and a quintessential Glee moment. We appreciate you too Mr. Shue.  ;)

Then at the end, we find out that Sue voted for New Directions to win on her ballot. AWWWWWW! Sue also gets New Directions another year. We were never worried about the Glee Club being canceled. But still, GO SUE. (For now anyway…)

And then, Mr. Shue and Puck sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” for the Glee club. There are so many adorable shots in this scene. Mercedes and Quinn taking hands, Britanny and Santana fist bumping.

All in all, this was just quite the episode of Glee. We can’t wait for next season.

Hell-o and Power of Madonna

Hell-o

“Did you know that dolphins are just gay sharks?” – Brittany

This was the first episode of the back nine and is certainly quite an episode.

In this episode, all of the Glee clubbers sing songs with the word “Hello” in the title.

Finn and Rachel are a couple now. But, Finn tells Rachel that he doesn’t want to be with her. Rachel, being a typical drama queen sings the All American Reject’s “Gives you Hell” to Finn in front of the entire Glee club. DRAMA. This works out for Rachel though. She runs in to the hot star of Vocal Adrenaline, Jesse St. James at a music star. They immediately hit it off and sing Lionel Ritchie’s “Hello” together in the store.

The rest of the Glee club is scared that Jesse is trying to sabotage them. Mr. Shue goes to talk to the Vocal Adrenaline director, Shelby, to try to clear all of this up. He ends up making out with Shelby. But he’s trying to be in a relationship with Emma now! Even more drama! Well, Rachel ends up pretending to dump Jesse but really decides to stay with him. Oh dear, such a tangled web here.

Meanwhile, Sue tries to sabotage Rachel but getting Santana and Brittany. This does not go so well as neither girl talks to Finn at all during this date. Finn tells Rachel that he wants to be with her again. But she’s with Jesse now. AWKWARD. But Finn did have a cute line about not being “just some guy” to Rachel. Awwwwww!

The kicker at the end of this episode is that while Jesse is telling Rachel how in to her he is, his coach, Shelby Cochran is watching. It does look like Rachel has been set up. But we all now know the story behind this.

Power of Madonna

“You deserve romance. No you deserve EPIC romance” – Jesse St. James (swoon)

“We need a new baritone because Finn wants to be Finnessa” – Noah Puckerman

This episode is all about girl power. Mr. Shue is worried that the boys are mistreating the girls so, inspired by Sue, he makes New Directions  sing Madonna songs. This episode is all about the music. LOVE IT!

The girls start the episode with a energetic performance of “Express Yourself.” We are definitely feeling the girl power already. These girls rocked it out! (Our banner is a screencap from this song)

Finn and Rachel sing a mash up of “Borderline/Open Your Heart.” AMAZING. This is made even better by the people dressed in different Madonna looks passing as Finn and Rachel danced by.

Mr. Shue insults Sue’s hair and  Mercedes and Kurt see how hurt she is. So, they take measures to help Sue. It was quite weird to see Sue’s vulnerable side as she explains how she burned her hair as a little girl, damaging her hair forever. Kurt turns this assignment into a video project. He does a remake of Madonna’s “Vogue” video starring Sue Sylvester. Brilliant is the only word to describe this.

In a very interesting story paralleled in three couples, Santana and Finn, Rachel and Jesse, and Emma and Will all get hot and heavy while singing “Like a Virgin.” Emma and Rachel can’t go through with it. But Finn does and tells Rachel that he didn’t. Interesting…

Mercedes and Kurt join the Cheerios in this episode. GASP. While leading the Cheerios, they do a duet of “4 Minutes” that brings the house down.

The boys then take on a boy band sound to sing “What it Feels Like for a Girl.” While we appreciate the empathetic undertone, this still felt a little silly. The guys sounded amazing though.

Jesse moves in to the McKinley district so he can truly be with Rachel. SWOON! (Especially now that we now that he wasn’t trying to bring New Directions down from the inside.)

The episode ends with an all Glee club rendition of “Like a Prayer.” Best number of the episode hands down. Jonathan Groff steals it with his solo! ;)

Mattress and Sectionals

June 7, 2010 by

Mattress

In “Mattress,” the time has come for school pictures to be taken. Glee club is not given a photo for fear the photo would be vandalized. Mr. Shue gets Figgins to agree to a photo of two of the members. Rachel, of course, is one and she gets Finn to agree to be the other. She sings Lily Allen’s “Smile” to help him smile for the photo and everything. Finn doesn’t end up showing for the photo. But Quinn saves the day and convinces Sue to give a Cheerios page up so all of the Glee clubbers can be in the photo.

Rachel comes across an opportunity for the Glee club to be in a local commercial for a Mattress store. The club sings “Jump.” That commercial would definitely sell some matresses. Seriously. Anyway, the club gets a bunch of mattresses as a thank you. Apparently, getting “paid for services” makes them ineligible for sectionals. UH OH. It gets worse, Mr. Shue found out that his wife was faking her pregnancy. So, he actually slept on one of those mattresses after leaving his house. This  means they can’t even return them. OH NO!

This ends up meaning that Mr. Shue can’t come with the club to sectionals. Sad!

Sectionals

The moment the Glee club has been waiting for is finally here. Sectionals. But without Mr. Shue….And without Finn once Rachel tells Finn that Puck is the father of Quinn’s baby.

Well, Emma moves her wedding back so she can chaperone sectionals. And off they go. New Directions sits watching as their competition steals their numbers. “Proud Mary” in wheelchairs, “And I am Telling You”…

Will needs to find a way to help his Glee club from far away. He sends Finn to the rescue. The team comes up with all new numbers with Finn’s help. Rachel sings “Don’t Rain on My Parade” as their ballad. Next, they all perform “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” (Appropriate, no?)

Then, back at McKinley, Sue gets fired for leaking the set list and Mr. Shue is reinstated as coach of the Glee club. The glee clubbers sing “My Life Would Suck Without You” for Mr. Shue to celebrate his return.

Then in a dramatic scene, Will chases Emma to stop her from leaving. They kiss. And curtain…

Wheels – Hairography

June 7, 2010 by

Wheels

In this episode, Quinn realizes how much money doctor’s visits and baby preparation cost. She tells Finn he has to get a job and fast. Rachel gets him a job to try to help. Meanwhile, Quinn refuses all money offers from the real baby daddy, Puck.

Will then gives Rachel “Defying Gravity” to sing. Only problem, Kurt wants to sing the song too and tries to make that happen. His dad makes an angry call and gets Mr. Shue to let them have a diva-off. Lea Michele and Chris Colfer both sound amazing singing this Broadway standard. This storyline is based on Chris Colfer’s real life which makes it even cooler.

And then, the storyline that gives the episode it’s name. The Glee club don’t have the money to get a bus to sectionals that can accommodate Artie in the ride to sectionals. The other kids want to make Artie drive with his dad. They have a bake sale to raise money for the bus but Puck has to put illicit substances into the cupcakes to get anyone to buy them.

Mr. Shue won’t have this lack of compassion. He makes all of the Glee club ride around in wheel chairs for three hours a day. And makes them sing “Proud Mary” in wheelchairs. This number was pretty amazing and definitely soulful. Power to the Glee club!

Ballad

There are two main storylines in this episode. Rachel has a crush on Mr. Shue and Quinn’s parents find out that she is pregnant.

So, Mr. Shue decides that each of the Glee clubbers needs to sing a ballad. He ends up paired with Ms. Berry. They sing the classic, “Endless Love.” Probably not the best idea because Rachel falls for Mr. Shue during this song. She becomes practically a stalker and shows up at his apartment and everything. Mr. Shue sings “Don’t Stand So Close to Me/Young Girl,” to try to get a message through to her but it fails. Eventually though, she does realize that she’s been acting ridiculously because of self-esteem issues. Poor Rachel!

As for the other story, Kurt helps Finn get his feelings out. But Finn’s mom catches him singing “I’ll Stand by You” to a sonogram. But she is very supportive as she realizes the truth. Then, Finn is invited to dinner with Quinn’s parents. At this dinner, Finn sings “You’re Having My Baby” to Quinn. Her parents too realize the truth but are not as supportive as Finn’s mom. Her parents kick her out of the house and she moves in with Finn. But the episode ends with the whole Glee club singing “Lean on Me” to Finn and Quinn which is very sweet.

Hairography

This episode also is filled with many story lines. Terri and Quinn find distractions for Will and Finn. Quinn tests Puck’s fatherly potential. And lastly, New Directions goes head to head with their sectionals competition.

So, in one of many parallel storylines between Quinn and Terri, both try to find ways to distract their significant others. Quinn convinces Kurt to give Rachel a makeover à la Sandy from Grease. Unfortunately, Finn is a fan of girls who don’t wear a lot of makeup or skin tight clothing. Poor Rachel had been set up by Kurt…And Terri tries to distract Will by giving him a car to work on. This works for a while until Will realizes the car he is fixing is not family friendly.

So, while Finn is distracted with Rachel, Quinn decides to ask Puck to babysit with her to test out his fatherly potential. They sing “Papa Don’t Preach” to the kids, get them to take a bath and get them to sleep. Success, right? Wrong. Quinn later finds out that Puck was sexting Santana while they were supposed to be babysitting….Oops. This solidifies Quinn’s decision to give the baby to the Shuesters.

Lastly, there’s the Hairography. Will thinks that Sue has leaked their set list for sectionals to their competitors, Jane Addams and Haverbrook, a school for the deaf. The Jane Adams girls’ performance of “Bootylicious” freaks Mr. Shue out and he feels the need to use Hairography. Hairography is the use of excessive head movement to mask deficiencies in singing and dancing. So, the New Directions sings “Hair/Crazy in Love” and frightens the blind people. Then, the blind students sing a moving rendition of “Imagine” and Mr. Shue realizes that they don’t need Hairography. New Directions end the episode by singing “True Colors” sitting on stools. Amazing number choice and lesson learned!

The Rhodes Not Taken – Mash-Up

June 6, 2010 by

Rhodes Not Taken

In this episode, Kristin Chenoweth guest stars as a boozy former Glee club star, April Rhodes. She didn’t graduate high school and Will brings her back to head the Glee club because Rachel quit the Glee club to star in Cabaret. Typical Mr. Shue has faith that he can sober her up and get her back on track.

Kristin Chenoweth and Lea Michele sing a beautiful duet of “Maybe this Time” from Cabaret. You have to love duets between Broadway stars. Magic, serious. And this episode had two. Matthew Morrison sings “Alone” with Kristin Chenoweth later in the episode.

But then of course things go sour when April convinces Kurt to drink rubbing alcohol before school. And encourages stealing and other bad behavior…She tells Will she’s back on the wagon. But we all remember “Home” right?

The entire Glee club finds out that Quinn is pregnant in this episode.  BOMB DROPPED. Finn has yet to find out that he’s not the father though…

And we will never forget Kristin Chenoweth singing Carrie Underwood’s “Last Name” in her cowboy boots.

And also, all is back to normal by the end and Rachel comes back to sing “Somebody to Love” with the Glee club at the very end of the episode. This is the beginning of the big all Glee club numbers ending episodes….

Vitamin D

“We’re planning on smacking them down like the hand of God” – Artie Abrams

In this episode, Will tries to get the Glee club back into the feeling of competition. He pits the boys against the girls. Each team has to come up with a mash-up of two songs.

This all would be well and good but Mrs. Shuester decides that she needs to keep an eye on her hubby and gets herself a job as school nurse. This of course fits in to Sue’s plan to destroy Glee club. She’s the one who told Terri that she needs to watch out for Emma.

Terri decides to give Finn sudafed and suddenly, he has the energy he had been lacking. Then all of the boys take these Vitamins and they suddenly are unnaturally perky. They rock it out on a Mash-up of Usher’s “Confessions Part II” and Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life” though.

Then, there’s the girls’ mash-up. They find out that the boys had “supplements” and are rightfully upset. But then of course, they do the wrong thing and all acquire sudafed as well…The girls give a very energetic performance of a mash-up of Beyonce’s “Halo” and “Walking on Sunshine.”

Ken also gets encouraged by Terri to propose to Emma. AND HE DOES! And that is not all. She says yes.

But a bomb possibly even bigger than that was Figgins naming Sue as Glee club co-director.

Throwdown

“I like minorities so much, I’m thinking about moving to California to become one” – Sue Sylvester

Now that Sue is co-director of the Glee club, drama ensues. Sue decides to pit the club members against each other. She takes the minority students and leaves Will with all of the other kids. But everyone knows she’s just trying to give the minority students a voice so they will like her better than Will.

While we do not approve of the Glee club being split up. Mercedes delivers a fierce number with “Hate on Me.” Lea Michele and Cory Monteith also do quite a job with “No Air.” But when the team gets together covertly to jam on “Ride Wit Me,” there is just so much amazingness.

Anyway, Will and Sue have quite a face-off. They even have an argument in voice-over at the beginning of the episode. Mr. Shuester flunks all of the Cheerios to get back at Sue. CRAZINESS! They have an animalistic fight with intense music in the background. And Sue does step down at the end of this episode. WHAT A RELIEF.

This is also the episode where Finn suggests that they name their baby “Drizzle.” LOVE THIS. But Quinn scoffs at the idea and is hurt that he would name their baby when she’s not keeping it. Thank goodness she’s changed and let Puck name the baby Beth in “Theatricality.”

Terri also is forced to go to an ultrasound with Mr. Shue. She bribes the OBGYN to tell him it’s a girl. Oh dear, we never liked this storyline.

This episode ends with one of the most moving numbers of this show. The Glee club dresses in white and sings “Keep Holding On” with a teary Quinn in the center.

Mash-Up

“We’re a couple of good looking Jews. It’s natural” – Puck

In this episode, Ken and Emma ask Will to create a mash-up of the two songs they want to have their first dance as a married couple. Emma wants “I Could Have Danced All Night” but Ken wants “The Thong Song.” Interesting pairing, right?

After much effort and dance lessons, Will is unable to put the songs together but points out that they are both great songs. Such a metaphor, right?

But Ken gets really jealous of Emma and Will and makes the football players choose between Glee and football. Thank goodness though that they all chose Glee. But that is not really that surprising…

Another big storyline of this episode was Finn and Quinn’s popularity falling. They get several slushies to the face. THIS NEVER USED TO HAPPEN TO THEM. They try wearing sunglasses to help but that doesn’t work either. They keep getting slushied…For a while Sue is sympathetic to Quinn’s plight. But then after a botched love affair with a local newsman, she is no longer feeling so nice and kicks Quinn out of the Cheerios.

And then, the strangest storyline was Puck and Rachel dating. Puck decides that hot Jews need to stick together and thus, he must date Rachel. In an effort to impress Rachel, Puck sings “Sweet Caroline.” While this relationship is just weird, we do approve of Puck singing this song. This is a close second to “Beth” for our favorite Puck solo. Puck and Rachel end it before this episode ends but theirs was certainly the most interesting romantic pairing Glee has seen thus far.

The episode ends with the entire Glee club throwing slushies in Mr. Shue’s face. LOVE IT!

Pilot – Preggers

June 5, 2010 by

In preparation for the season finale of Glee that will air on Tuesday, we have decided to do a little recap of this season thus far. This post will review the first four episodes of Glee!

Pilot

Ok. So quick summary here. At the beginning of this episode, Will Shuester takes over the Glee club and names them “New Directions.” He soon realizes that he doesn’t have enough students in his club so he blackmails Finn Hudson, the football team’s quarterback, to join the Glee club. Mr. Shuester and the dirtphobic guidance counselor, Emma Pillsbury, take the team to go see Vocal Adrenaline perform. And then, Will finds out that his wife Terri is pregnant and he has to reevaluate his unhappy marriage and job priorities but does decide to continue as the Glee club adviser.

The interesting part of watching this episode was that so much has changed and yet so much has not over the course of this season. This episode introduces us to the Finn-Rachel relationship and the Emma-Will relationship which have played big parts all season. And of course, Vocal Adrenaline has played A HUGE part in this season and will play an even bigger one in the season finale. And of course Puck and Quinn have gone through HUGE transformations and seeing them mean in this episode was just weird. And Mercedes was WAY more sassy in this episode than any other and her hair was also way bigger than in any future episode. And another thing, Mr. Shue is a Spanish teacher, how long has it been since that was mentioned in the show?

A couple random observations. In a flashback, little Finn was shown singing “Lovin’ Touchin’ Squeezing” on his lawn. Well guess what, Finn will be singing that at regionals in the season finale…Interesting, no? Two other quick things. Sue’s hair has changed  A LOT over the season surprisingly. Also, there was narration from Finn and Mr. Shue in the pilot, where did that go? Ok. we lied. ONE more thing. We watched the director’s cut of the pilot and Matthew Morrison’s version of “Leavin’ on a Jet Plane” was absolutely beautiful.

Showmance

So this episode separated into 3 parts. The club’s performances, Mr. Shue’s home life, and the Quinn-Finn-Rachel triangle.

First we’ll talk about the club itself. Mr. Shue wants the club to perform a disco number at a pep assembly. All of the club members think this is a horrible idea. Mr. Shue sort of gets the point and lets the club sing Kanye’s “Golddigger” in rehearsals but still wants to make them sing disco at the assembly.  Rachel heads an effort to go behind Mr. Shue’s back to put together a number for the assembly. They end up performing “Push It” and Mr. Shuester is furious. The club also gets an approved list of songs to sing as a punishment.

In Mr. Shuester’s home life, he wants to buy a house with his wife to prepare for their new baby. Terri throws several fits about how she wants all of the materialistic things in life. We really hate her. We are so happy that they are divorced in the current episodes. Anyway, they have trouble making ends meet so Will takes on a job as night janitor at the high school. Of course, Emma finds him working one night and decides to help him. They really are so cute together. Anyhoo, Ken Tanaka asks Emma out and she says yes which ruins this cuteness between Emma and Will. But Terri does go to the doctor and finds out that her pregnancy is just a hysterical pregnancy. There’s no baby. And in her typically manipulative, annoying fashion, Terri tells Will that it’s a boy rather than the truth….ARGH!

Alright, Finn-Rachel-Quinn time. It is very clear at this point that Rachel has a thing for Finn. Rachel goes to a celibacy meeting to try to cultivate common interest with Finn. When she’s there, Quinn makes several comments about the importance of abstinence which are quite ironic considering that Quinn will be giving birth in the season finale…Rachel then does show private Glee clubbing rehearsal with Finn and they start making out in a very Spring Awakening-esque moment. Uh oh WHAT ABOUT QUINN? Well, Quinn had that thought at least. She and a few other Cheerios audition for Glee club to keep an eye on Finn. The beginning of some beautiful moments with Brittany, Santana, and Quinn!

Accafellas

This episode was full of guest stars. Debra Monk and Victor played Will’s parents. Tony Award winner John Lloyd Young made an appearance as a woodshop teacher with no thumbs. Even Josh Groban made a cameo.

Ken, Henri, Will, and Howard form an Accapella group that they dub, cleverly, Accafellas. Matthew Morrison especially sounds absolutely phenomenal in the Accafella numbers. It is really too bad none of these numbers made it on to iTunes. Anyway, the Accafellas have a few successful performances but then Howard decides that he is too busy working at Sheets and Things and Henri goes to Rehab. But then Finn and Puck (!!!!) join the group! They perform at a PTA meeting and impress Josh Groban in the process!

Sue hatches a new plot to bring down the Glee clubbers one by one. As part of this plot, Quinn, Brittany, and Santana tell Mercedes that she should pursue a relationship with Kurt and Mercedes suddenly decides that she is in love with Kurt. We’re not really sure how she could possibly think he is straight. Well, eventually, Mercedes finds out that Kurt is not interested in a relationship and she “busts the windows” out of his car. This is one of the best numbers this show has ever produced. Go Mercedes.

The New Directions become a little too preoccupied with winning and they hired a choreographer, Dakota Stanley. It turns out that he doesn’t appreciate them for who they are, he wants them to change. Of course, they stand up for themselves and fire him as they tell him how successful misfits can be. One of very many Glee episodes with this message.

Preggers

“My body is like a rum chocolate souffle. If I don’t warm it up right, it doesn’t rise.” – Kurt Hummel

This episode begins with Kurt, Brittany, and Tina dancing to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.” This just epitomizes how amazing this episode is. Plus, Heather Morris (Brittany) was hired on this show to teach Chris Colfer and the other actors to do the Single Ladies dance…so….This is obviously pretty awesome.

Kurt ends up as the football team’s kicker in this episode. He brings so much fierce to the football team. He ends up teaching the whole football team to do the Single Ladies dance and it actually helps the team do well on the field. Only on Glee…We love this though. And this storyline ends with the first of many speeches from Kurt’s dad about accepting Kurt as he is.

And then, Rachel has a diva moment when Mr. Shuester gives the solo in “Tonight” from West Side Story. Sue of course uses this to bring down the Glee club. She steals Rachel away by bringing back Sandy and staging a production of Cabaret.

The biggest storyline of this episode, the one that gives us it’s title is about Quinn. The president of the celibacy club, Quinn, finds out that a tryst she had with one Noah Puckerman has ended in getting her pregnant. She tells Finn that the baby is his. Of course, Terri then wants Quinn’s baby to cover up her fake pregnancy…

And Puck joins Glee cub. YAY!

A post on the next four episodes is coming soon!

Preview of Season Finale

June 4, 2010 by

We hope you know that Glee’s season finale “Journey” is airing on Tuesday.

The video of one of numbers from next week’s episode has been posted on youtube.

Enjoy Lea Michele and Cory Monteith singing “Faithfully”

Glee takes us to Funkytown!

June 2, 2010 by

We have a few quotes from this episode that we loved and they all happened to be from the same scene.

“This cheese smells funky” – Rachel Berry

“SHUT IT PUCKERMAN!” – Rachel Berry

“I’m so depressed that I’ve worn the same outfit twice this week” – Kurt

And one more…..

“I thought jews were supposed to be smart” – Terri (formerly Mrs. Shuester)

This episode started with Jonathan Groff aka Jesse St. James returning to his old high school and its intense show choir robot, Vocal Adrenaline.

This first number of this episode is “Another One Bites the Dust” performed by the new and re-Jessified Vocal Adrenaline. Jonathan Groff may be one of the cutest actors of all time but he brought his fiercest death glare to his performance of this number. It was sharp and just plain entertaining. WE MISSED YOU JONATHAN GROFF! But we have to wonder, WHY did he go back to Vocal Adrenaline??

And seeing their competition “bring it” puts New Directions in a funk. And to bring themselves out of that funk, they use funk music. (How many times can we use funk in a sentence?)

Will decides to get out of his funk by seducing and then crushing Sue. Oh dear, right? At first, we thought this could be a very interesting storyline. Matthew Morrison (Mr. Shue) was just hot when he sang “Tell Me Something Good” to Sue. It was awkward but delicious, if you know what we mean ;) . But then when Mr. Shuester stood up Sue on a date, we knew he’d gone too far. Oh why did he have to bring Sue’s wrath upon him?

So in other Mr Shue news, Will and Terri finally made their divorce final this week. And Terri decided to get out of her funk by hitting on 16-year-old Finn? That was just awkward….Well anyway, Finn and Puck are working for Terri now. Puck and Finn took the lead on “Loser,” a number performed by the whole Sheets and Things Staff. The number was fun and we just love hearing Mark Salling (Puck) sing.

Finn and Puck also sang “Good Vibrations” together later in the episode. Hearing them sing two songs together proved to us that we like Mark Salling’s voice better than Cory Monteith’s (Finn). Sorry…..it’s just the truth. We do love that Puck has gotten to sing more in recent episodes. Maybe he’ll have more solos at regionals? Fingers crossed!

Even the blonde, blue eyed Quinn decides to get a little funky. Mercedes may have doubted her ability to get funky but Quinn certainly did not disappoint. She and a bunch of other pregnant girls performed “It’s a Man’s Man’s World.” Quinn has not been featured in an episode in forever. It was so nice to hear Dianna Agron sing. We love her voice. We think this really embodied the message of this episode. She let out her anger and soul through music and it was moving to watch. Despite this great moment for Quinn, we found all of the pregnant bellies dancing around a little awkward…

This funky moment for Quinn also connected her to Mercedes. Apparently, Mercedes realized that being pregnant makes Quinn a minority in her own way. And they bonded over their minority-ness in another very sweet moment. We love the friendship that has been forming between these two in the past few episodes. It is absolutely adorable. The best part of this was Mercedes asking Quinn to move in to her house. We officially dub these two soul sisters. LOVE IT!

Back to the Vocal Adrenaline thing. Rachel got a call on her cell telling her to come out to the parking lot. We recognized Jonathan Groff’s voice on the other end and thought that maybe Jesse was not a horrible betrayer after all. But sadly, our hopes were crushed. Literally, sort of….Jesse and the other Vocal Adrenaline singers threw eggs at Rachel in the parking lot. Bitch move, Jesse. We thought we loved you, Jonathan Groff…

Anyway, New Directions got revenge as only they could. In song. They brought down the house by performing “We’ve Got the Funk” for the soulless automatons that make up Vocal Adrenaline. The visuals of this scene were pretty funky. There was a colorful funkadelic background that supplemented all of the crazy dance moves. We definitely think that New Directions does have some funk. The best part of this number were the shots of Jonathan Groff’s horrified face. That’s right Vocal Adrenaline, New Directions will kick your butts at regionals….

The interesting thing that we found about this episode was a distinctive lack of Lea Michele’s (Rachel Berry) singing voice. Maybe Lea Michele just doesn’t have enough funk….Well, we know we’ll get to hear her sing a lot at regionals next episode. And we do love to hear the voices of all of the glee clubbers….

Speaking of regionals, next week’s season finale episode will be filled with Journey songs. WE CAN’T WAIT! :)

Ok, we have used the word “funk” enough times, we’re signing off.
